The 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing band bids farewell to Sgt. Maj. Anthony Spadaro, the 3rd MAW Sergeant Major during a lunch at the 3rd MAW commanding general’s residence aboard Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, Calif., July 9. The lunch was to show their appreciation for the band’s participation in the 3rd MAW’s Committed and Engaged Leadership initiative, which aims to empower noncommissioned officers with tasks they normally wouldn’t perform. The band’s role in the initiative is to plan and organize performances for monthly colors ceremonies, including skits and musical selections. Sgt. Maj. Spadaro was known as the band’s number one fan. He will head to New Orleans to take command as Sergeant Major for Marine Forces Reserve.
