Fort Plain residents Gary Lavalley (left) and Marie Robinson (middle) watch New York Army National Guard soldier Spc. Brendan Miller bulldoze rocks and other flood debris from Otsquago Creek July 4. Miller belongs to the Buffalo-based 152nd Engineer Company. New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo called up the company and other soldiers of the 204th Engineer Battalion to remove flood debris and prevent further flood damage in the Mohawk Valley. In addition to other missions, the engineer soldiers removed an island of debris which had choked the Otsquago Creek's flow. Miller is from Buffalo.
