Army Command Sgt. Maj. Jerry Martin (left), 139th Regiment (North Carolina Regional Training Institute – Combat Arms) senior enlisted soldier presents former commander, Army Col. John A. Byrd, with a gift from the unit during the unit’s change of commandceremony for the 139th Regiment (North Carolina Regional Training Institute – Combat Arms) at the unit’s headquarters at Fort Bragg, N.C., July 13. Byrd has commanded the unit since 2010 and is replaced by Col. Army Col. Lawrence R. Powell, who completed an assignment as commander of the 30th Armored Brigade Combat Team.
