    Marine Corps Recruiting Command

Recruits of Hotel Company, 2nd Recruit Training Battalion, perform a low block with a rifle during martial arts training July 15, 2013, on Parris Island, S.C. Martial arts instructors taught recruits various techniques to defend themselves with a rifle in close-quarters combat. The Marine Corps Martial Arts Program is designed to create physically and morally strong Marines. Recruits must earn tan belts, the first level of MCMAP, in order to graduate. Approximately 20,000 recruits come to Parris Island annually for the chance to become United States Marines by enduring 13 weeks of rigorous, transformative training. Parris Island is home to entry-level enlisted training for 50 percent of males and 100 percent of for females in the Marine Corps. Hotel Company is scheduled to graduate Sept. 20, 2013.
