Matt Thompson, a student of the Machine Intelligence Laboratory (MIL) at the University of Florida, monitors SubjuGator, an autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV), through an obstacle course during the 16th annual RoboSub competition at Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center's Transducer Evaluation Center Anechoic Pool. RoboSub is an event co-sponsored by the Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International and the U.S. Office of Naval Research to advance the development of AUVs by challenging a new generation of engineers to perform realistic missions in an underwater environment.
