Fort Riley, KAN.- The Fort Riley community gathered for the 3rd Annual Rock’n Riley Music and Street Eats Victory Celebration at the Fort Riley Post Exchange, June 14.

“We really liked food and enjoyed the music. We are going to get some snow cones,” said Sgt. Cody Shaffer, 2nd Battalion, 34th Armored Regiment, 1st Brigade, 1st Infantry Division. “I really liked the music and all the cars. Obviously, the food too” said Sgt Shaffer’s wife, Emily.

In addition to food trucks and music from the 1st Infantry Division Band, the event featured a car meet, games and bounce houses, vendors, and activities for adults, including a beer tent.

“I am very happy for the turn-out of this event. The MWR team and Garrison partners really knocked it out of the park. It brings us together as a community” said Mr. Tod Scalf, Director of Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation. “Looking around, seeing the kids, Soldiers, civilians, and families, it’s a great day and I couldn’t have asked for more.”

The event, held from 4 to 7 p.m., concluded with a drawing of prizes to include swag bags, gift cards, a grill and a 40” inch television. “We came out for all the cars and to support everyone else and we’re so happy to win the drawing” said Kailey Egner, winner of the television and wife of Sgt. Matthew Egner, 541st Division Sustainment Support Battalion, 1st Infantry Division Sustainment Brigade, 1st Infantry Division.

“I appreciate everyone spending the evening with us, and I want to thank all the sponsors for pitching in and supporting us” said Col. Michael Foote, U.S. Army Fort Riley Garrison Commander.
