Adm. James Stavridis, Commander U.S. Southern Command, is saluted by Rear Adm. Joseph D. Kernan, Commander, U.S. Naval Forces Southern Command, during the 4th Fleet re-establishment ceremony held at Naval Station Mayport. U.S. 4th Fleet's mission will be to direct assigned forces in the U.S. Southern Command Area of Focus and conduct a full spectrum of Maritime Security Operations in support of activities that promote coalition building and deter aggression within the maritime environment.
