Lance Cpl. David V. Whitehead rakes leaves and grass Sept. 28 in his free time during a cemetery cleanup at Clark Veterans Cemetery, Clark Air Field, Pampanga, Republic of the Philippines. “It is important to demonstrate our good faith to the community, our Filipino family and these fallen service members,” said Navy Lt. Stephen F. Brown, chaplain for 3d Marine Expeditionary Brigade, III Marine Expeditionary Force. “Often we can get stuck in our operations and training and forget to engage in demonstrating the generous nature that we are capable of giving.” Whitehead is a landing support specialist with 3d MEB and is in the Philippines conducting Amphibious Landing Exercise 2014. PHIBLEX 14, now in its 30th iteration, demonstrates the U.S. and Republic of the Philippines commitment to mutual security and a long-time partnership. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by lance Cpl. Jose D.
