Pfc. Xavier L. Cannon shines the metal fence that protects the cemetery’s logo Sept. 28 during a voluntary cemetery cleanup at Clark Veterans Cemetery, Clark Air Field, Pampanga, Republic of the Philippines. “These fallen veterans deserve nothing, but the best and the two hours the Marines provided us with help, equals to about 40 hours,” said Carl D. Burke, the senior vice commander for the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2485. Cannon is a landing support specialist with 3d Marine Expeditionary Brigade, III Marine Expeditionary Force and is in the Philippines conducting Amphibious Landing Exercise 2014. PHIBLEX 14 is an exercise designed to improve Philippine-U.S. interoperability, increase readiness, and enhance the ability for a bilateral force to respond to natural disasters or other regional contingencies.
