Capt. Amanda Maben and 1st Sgt. Donald K. Atkins, Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 3rd General Support Aviation Battalion, 82nd Combat Aviation Brigade, shake hands with Spc. Matthew Wentling after presenting his son, Kaleb, with a certificate of appreciation April 30. Children throughout the company received certificates during the ceremony, which was organized by Matthew’s wife, Marissa, to honor the Month of the Military Child. The Wentling family was named the first runner up, 2013 Association of the United States Army Volunteer Family of the Year Award. “Time is precious and we recognize that it takes our volunteers to help take care of our families,” said Lt. Col. William Braman, 3-82 GSAB commander. “The Wentling family has gone out of their way to take care of this unit and their community in every way they could. We couldn’t be more proud of them.”
