A leg up - Staff Sgt. Richard D. West, Jr. soothes a feathered friend, an injured owlet, found by Soldiers at Camp Stryker.
Maj. Daniel Cardosa, a veterinarian with C Co., 490th civil affairs Bn., 48th BCT has been treating the animal but says the owl has really taken to West, a law enforcement professional from Houston, Tx.
"Staff Sgt. West obviously has a way with animals," Cardosa commented. "He talks really softly to the bird and (the owl) gets very excited when West is around."
West is the civil affairs team ground security commander.
