U.S. Marine Sergeant Michael Johnson, an H-1 Huey helicopter crew chief with Marine Medium Helicopter Squadron 163, attached to the 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit (Special Operations Capable), loads up linked ammunition in his XM-218 .50 caliber machine gun during Exercise Bright Star, Sept. 24. The exercise is designed to enhance the interoperability and cohesiveness of coalition forces through various training scenarios, to include amphibious and combined-arms operations. The six-week exercise affords U.S. service members the opportunity to build awareness and relationships with the host nation of Egypt and fellow coalition forces. The 13th MEU is currently on a Western Pacific deployment in support of the Global War on Terrorism. Official Marine Corps Photo by Cpl Chad H. Leddy (released)
