This annual event allows the United States Marine Corps to strengthen its relationship with historically black colleges and universities such as Gambling State University, and to attract and potentially recruit demographic diversity. For 39 years, the Bayou Classic has showcased the long-standing rivalry between the Southern University Jaguars and the Gambling State University Tigers. The United States Marine Corps has been a partner of the Bayou Classic for 13 consecutive years in celebration of the hard work, courage and commitment to excellence exhibited by its many participants.
