Lauren Bruner, a USS Arizona survivor, greets Rear Adm. Fumiyuki Kitagawa, JMSDF vice commander, Combined Task Force commander, Escort Flotilla 3, during his visit to Hawaii. Bruner presented Kitagawa with a gift. Bruner along with five fellow crewmen manned one of the Arizona's anti-aircraft gun batteries on the ship's port side during the attack of Dec. 7, 1941. Bruner is visiting Hawaii during Battle of Midway commemoration events. Kitagawa helped lead the multinational Rim of the Pacific Exercise in and around Hawaii in 2012.
