Petty Officer 2nd Class Molly Mead, a native of Windsor, Massachusetts, is an EMT at Swedish Medical Center in Englewood, Colorado. She is currently assigned to Naval Mobile Construction Battalion - 17 deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Mead, along with a team of highly motivated Seabees and the Army 814th Multi-Roll Bridge Company are working together on a large scale bridge building project located in western Iraq. Seabees attached to NMCB-17 are taking the lead moving an estimated 70 thousand cubic yards of earth to aid in completion of the 300 meter Maybey-Johnson Float Bridge that will span across the Euphrates River. When complete the project will help increase local commerce, trade, and travel for the Iraqi population in the area. "I have done preventative medicine such as checking camp sanitation and maintenance, first aid briefs, checking the heat index, and frequent reminders about terrain, environment , and to hydrate. I also offer 24 hour sick call to make sure that Seabees are healthy to complete their mission."
