Beth Athanas, a Master Resilience Trainer Performance Expert with the Fort Hood Comprehensive Soldier and Family Fitness Program, briefs three infantrymen with 1st Squadron, 3rd Cavalry Regiment, before sending them into an obstacle course designed to test performance enhancement and memory techniques. The course consisted of a field full of metal shipping containers representing a village, with trip wires and objects scattered around the area and photographs of faces taped up inside and outside several of the connexes. Soldiers were asked to match the faces to the corresponding connex on charts and mark the possible improvise explosive device sites on maps once they returned to the starting point.
