Col. Gary Brandl, right, leads the elements of the 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit on a morning run aboard Camp Lejeune, N.C., Sept. 12, 2008. The run, consisting of more than 1,200 Marines and sailors, was the first event of a six-month training period and subsequent six-month deployment. According to Brandl, the run was significant because the unit will begin and end its time together as one team with one fight.
