National Guard soldiers and members of the community simultaneously cut a red ribbon, signifying the unique cooperation of military and civilian entities while dedicating the recently renovated Joseph T. Carruthers Armory in Greensboro, N.C., on Feb. 8, 2014. The armory was named after Joseph T. Carruthers because he was instrumental in recognizing the need for a state-centrally located National Guard readiness center, as well as in raising funds for the original construction of the building in 1961.
