Sergeant Jesse W. Hutchins, combat engineer, 3rd Platoon, Charlie Company, 1st Combat Engineer Battalion, 1st Marine Division, hurls a piece of lumber during a log toss competition at the St. Patrick’s Day field meet aboard Camp Pendleton, Calif., March 17, 2014. Engineer battalions and companies from 1st Marine Division, 1st Marine Logistics Group, and the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing, meet annually near St. Patrick’s Day to compete in a number of events to determine the best engineer battalion or company and build camaraderie, communication and morale between the units.
