    III Marine Expeditionary Force   

    U.S. Marine Lt. Col. Bradford W. Tippett prepares to address Marines and Japan Ground Self-Defense Force members March 8 during the closing ceremony for Exercise Forest Light 14-2 at Sekiyama Training Area, Niigata prefecture, Japan. The exercise enhanced the interoperability of both nations’ forces in cold-weather environments. The Marines are with Company I, 3rd Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, currently assigned to 4th Marines, 3rd Marine Division, III Marine Expeditionary Force, under the unit deployment program.
