Japan Ground Self-Defense Force Col. Tatsuya Osaki, right, presents a gift to U.S. Navy Seaman Parrish M. Wallace March 8 at the closing ceremony for Exercise Forest Light 14-2 at Sekiyama Training Area, Niigata prefecture, Japan. Osaki presented gifts to a select group of U.S. service members who showed outstanding effort above and beyond during the exercise. Forest Light enhanced the two nations’ interoperability in cold-weather environments. Osaki is the commanding officer of 2nd Infantry Regiment, 12th Brigade, Eastern Army. Wallace is a corpsman with Company I, 3rd Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, currently assigned to 4th Marines, 3rd Marine Division, III Marine Expeditionary Force, under the unit deployment program.
