Lieutenant Col. Jeffrey Stevenson, the commanding officer of 2nd Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, addresses an audience of Marines, sailors and their families gathered for the battalion’s 73rd birthday celebration Mar. 26, 2014, at Marston Pavilion aboard Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, N.C. “It’s important to remember where we’ve come from, those who came before us, and the standards they set,” said Stevenson. “Regardless of the operation tempo we need to take time to remember where we’ve come from.
