Staff Sgt. Jason Hellums, a cavalry scout from Fort Hood, Texas, and platoon sergeant assigned to Troop C, 7th Squadron, 10th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, Multi-National Division - Baghdad, emplaces a temporary barrier, Oct. 13, 2008, to block vehicle traffic from entering the busiest parts of the Abu T'shir Market Street in efforts to assist Iraqi security forces protecting Iraqi citizens of Abu T'shir in the Rashid District from an anticipated second attack by terrorists. Hellums' Soldiers assisted the ISF imposing the curfew, emplacing barriers to close side streets and searching vehicles at hasty traffic control points after a car bomb detonated in the market, indiscriminately killing innocent Iraqis and destroying a building.
