Senior Airman Jason Allen attaches a yaw indicator to an MQ-9 Reaper at Joint Base Balad, Iraq, Nov. 22. The yaw indicator allows the pilot to get a measurement of the aircraft's lateral plane of movement. A coalition force of experts from the U.S. Air Force and Royal Air Force deployed here to man a new Reaper aircraft maintenance unit. The unit is attached to the 46th Expeditionary Reconnaissance and Attack Squadron and assumed maintenance duties from General Atomics, which produces the Reaper for these services. Allen, an integrated avionics specialist assigned to the 332nd Expeditionary Aircraft Maintenance Squadron, is deployed from Creech Air Force Base, Nev. His hometown is Sumter, S.C.
