Senior Airman Hector Sanchez wipes carbon build up off the propeller of an MQ-9 Reaper at Joint Base Balad, Iraq, Nov. 22. Carbon builds on the propeller from the Reaper's exhaust. A coalition force of experts from the U.S. Air Force and Royal Air Force deployed here to man a new Reaper aircraft maintenance unit. The unit is attached to the 46th Expeditionary Reconnaissance and Attack Squadron and assumed maintenance duties from General Atomics, which produces the Reaper for these services. Sanchez, a Reaper crew chief assigned to the 332nd Expeditionary Aircraft Maintenance Squadron, is deployed from Creech Air Force Base, Nev. His hometown is Utuado, Puerto Rico.
