Hundreds of friends, family, fellow Guardsmen along with Patriot Guard Riders attended the funeral of Army National Guard Sgt. Jon Stiles at Fort Logan National Cemetery, Nov. 21. With flags in hand, Patriot Guard Riders lined the entire area of the cemetery for Stile's funeral. Stiles, 38, of Highlands Ranch, Colo., was killed in action when an improvised explosive device detonated near his vehicle in Jalalabad, Afghanistan, Nov. 13, while deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom with the Louisiana National Guard. Prior to his deployment, he was assigned to the Colorado Army National Guard's Battery B, 3rd Battalion, 157th Field Artillery in Aurora, Colo. He had also served on the Colorado Honor Guard for more than a year. He and his wife Launa would have celebrated their eight wedding anniversary on Wednesday. Launa referred to Stiles as a "Soldier's Soldier."
