Drill instructor Sgt. AnaSharon Beaudet orders Rct. Sara Bennett, Platoon 4024, Oscar Company, 4th Recruit Training Battalion, to quickly make a phone call shortly after arriving at Parris Island, S.C., on April 28, 2014. Drill instructors waste no time ensuring recruits know the strict standards expected of them during training, including moving urgently in everything they do. Beaudet, 34, is from Fairfax, Va. Bennett, a 19-year-old from Tulsa, Okla., is scheduled to graduate July 25, 2014. Parris Island has been the site of Marine Corps recruit training since Nov. 1, 1915. Today, approximately 20,000 recruits come to Parris Island annually for the chance to become United States Marines by enduring 13 weeks of rigorous, transformative training. Parris Island is home to entry-level enlisted training for 50 percent of males and 100 percent of females in the Marine Corps. (Photo by Cpl. Octavia Davis)
