Aviation operations have ramped up at the Naval Station Guantanamo Bay Cuba's (GTMO) Leeward Airfield. A United States Air Force C-17 Globemaster III attached to Dover Air Force Base, refuels after delivering a load of humanitarian supplies and equipment. GTMO has become the logistical hub for receiving humanitarian supplies, personnel and equipment and sending them to Haiti. The Leeward Airfield is participating in Operation Unified Response is providing military support capabilities to civil authorities to help stabilize and improve the situation in Haiti in the wake of the 7.0 magnitude earthquake on Jan. 12, 2010.
