Aviation operations have ramped up at Naval Station Guantanamo Bay, Cuba's (GTMO) Leeward Airfield. GTMO has become the logistical hub for receiving humanitarian supplies, personnel and equipment and sending them to Haiti. The Leeward Airfield is participating in Operation Unified Response and is providing military support capabilities to civil authorities to help stabilize and improve the situation in Haiti in the wake of the 7.0 magnitude earthquake on Jan. 12, 2010.
