Lt. j.g. Michael J. Salsgiver, systems tech officer on the guided-missile cruiser USS Normandy (CG 60), helps transfer humanitarian rations to members of the town of Boden, on the island of La Gonave, just off the coast of Haiti. Normandy provided, food, water and medical supplies to the village. Normandy's efforts are part of Operation Unified Response, the humanitarian assistance/disaster relief response to earthquake that occurred in Haiti on Jan. 12.
