Francisco Valdovinos, chief boatswain's mate, assigned to the littoral combat ship USS Freedom, plays the pipe for Canadian sailors aboard the Canadian frigate HMCS St. John's, during a port visit in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Freedom is the first of two littoral combat ships designed to operate in shallow water environments to counter threats in coastal regions and is currently en route to Norfolk, Va.
