The littoral combat ship USS Freedom's, commanding officer, Cmdr. Don Gabrielson, explains various functions of the ship's navigation system to Canadian Brigadier General Dave Neasmith, Commander, Land Force Atlantic Area and Canadian CWO M.R. Hornbrook, during a tour of the ship. Freedom is the first of two littoral combat ships designed to operate in shallow water environments to counter threats in coastal regions and is currently en route to Norfolk, Va.
