Colorado Army National Guard Staff Sgt. Edwin Thompson, a flight engineer assigned to 2nd Battalion, 135th Aviation Regiment, looks for a designated drop zone from the ramp of a Colorado Army CH-47D Chinook at Fort Carson, Colo., Dec. 10, 2008. The Colorado National Guard crew teamed up with 10th Special Forces Group (Airborne) and Dutch Special Forces to conduct airborne operations. Thompson's scanning the airspace while also helping the jumpmaster identify the drop zone.
