U.S. Army 1st Lt. Erin Malapit, an officer assigned to the 500th Engineer Company, 15th Engineer Battalion based out of Grafenwoehr, Germany, plays with a child from the Zvanninieki Alternative Family Home during a May 30, 2014, multinational community outreach event in Vaive, Latvia. Soldiers from the 500th Engineer Company and the 173rd Airborne Brigade collected and split firewood, constructed the foundation for a barn, and dug a trench to supply clean water as part of the event, which was organized by the U.S. Embassy in Latvia.
