Cadets from the Youth Challenge Academy (YCA) graduated June 11 during a ceremony at McCrady Training Center after completing the 22-week training course. Command Sgt. Maj. Michael Parker, Commandant of The YCA makes sure the cadets are motivated enough to graduate by calling out and the cadets are expected to reply back. The YCA is a second-chance program that helps youth by providing training in life skills, academic skills, leadership and physical fitness, which are part of the eight core components taught during the course. The program is designed to help youth acquire the basic skills and education necessary to succeed in life, which includes the opportunity to earn their General Equivalency Diploma (GED).
