Spc. Joshua S. Davis is presented the Purple Heart by Col. Randal Scott Carter, commander of the 648th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade, during a ceremony at Fort Stewart on April 5, 2014. Davis was awarded the Purple Heart after he was hit by an improvised explosive device during his second month of deployment. After some recovery time, Davis returned to his unit in the sixth month of the deployment to continue his mission. “Never take life for granted,” said Davis.
