The blended battlefield has created a blurred perception of the role of the Ready, Modern, Guard. National Guard Bureau's senior enlisted adviser, Chief Master Sergeant Mitchell O. Brush, shares a laugh over the glaring question 'got readiness?' with Georgia National Guard's operations officer, Col. Reggie Neal during Brush's three-day tour of the Georgia National Guard. doing what he loves most; connecting with the Citizen-Warriors of the state. Brush believes in promoting the future of America's Guard and spoke candidly with senior leaders about community and encouragement. "We are more than 39-days a year," Brush said. "We are that hand in an emergency and when we pull our citizens to safety they don't see uniform, they see a friend." (Georgia National Guard photo by Staff Sgt Tracy J Smith)
