The present shook hands with the future of America's Guard at the Georgia Garrison Training Command, Fort Stewart, Ga., on Wednesday. National Guard Bureau's senior enlisted adviser, Chief Master Sgt. Mitchell O. Brush, began his three-day tour of the Georgia National Guard doing what he loves most; connecting with the Citizen-Warriors of the state. Brush, a native of Montana, happened upon Georgia's 48th Infantry Brigade Communications specialist, and Hamilton, Montana native, Allison Stahl. Stahl was one of the driver's during the Bureau Chief's Ft. Stewart visit and was surprised and humbled when Brush presented her with his challenge coin. "I miss mountain biking with my dad and hiking," Stahl reminisced. Looking at her coin she added, "its nice to have a piece of home." Brush believes in promoting the future of America's Guard and spoke candidly with the Georgia's senior leaders about responsibility to community and encouragement. "We are more than 39-days a year," Brush said. "We are that hand in an emergency and when we pull our citizens to safety they don't see uniform, they see a friend."
