Marines and sailors prepare to carry a simulated casualty using a field-expedient stretcher during the jungle endurance course June 20 at the Jungle Warfare Training Center on Camp Gonsalves, Marine Corps Base Camp Smedley D. Butler, Marine Corps Installations Pacific. The stretcher carry is the final portion of the endurance course, and Marines and sailors must carry the casualty through one mile of jungle terrain. The Marines and sailors are with 1st Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment, which is currently assigned to 4th Marines, 3rd Marine Division, III Marine Expeditionary Force, under the unit deployment program.
