Lance Cpl. William K. Emory Jr. provides security as Marines and sailors rappel down a slippery clay slope during the jungle endurance course June 20 at the Jungle Warfare Training Center on Camp Gonsalves, Marine Corps Base Camp Smedley D. Butler, Marine Corps Installations Pacific. Throughout the course, Marines post security while the rest of their squad completes various obstacles. Emory is a Fort Washington, Maryland, native and mortarman with 1st Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment, which is currently assigned to 4th Marines, 3rd Marine Division, III Marine Expeditionary Force, under the unit deployment program.
