Spc. Jeremy M. Estepp, a Westland, Mich., native serving as a cavalry scout for 1st Platoon, Troop B, 1st Squadron, 91st Cavalry Regiment, 173rd Airborne Brigade, helps a soldier from the Estonian Scoutspataljon (Single Scouts Infantry Battalion) familiarize himself with a M240 machine gun July 16 in Paldiski, Estonia. The machine gun and grenade launcher range was one of nine challenges that culminated in a stress-shoot competition which tested the soldiers’ strength, speed, endurance and marksmanship. Competing teams had opportunities to learn about each other’s weaponry, equipment and squad-level tactics. Approximately 600 paratroopers from the 173rd Airborne Brigade are in Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Poland as part of Operation Atlantic Resolve to demonstrate commitment to NATO obligations and sustain interoperability with allied forces.
