Special Operations Forces and commando teams from 17 nations stand in formation during the opening ceremony of this year’s Fuerzas Comando competition July 23 at Fort Tolemaida, Colombia. During the eight-day U.S. Southern Command sponsored exercise, the teams will compete in a series of events that will test their physical fitness, weapons marksmanship, aquatic skills, and tactical capabilities. Colombia is the reigning Fuerzas Comando champion. The competition, established in 2004, is aimed at enhancing training skills, mutual trust, readiness and interoperability of Special Operations Forces in the region.
