Sergeant Caleb Pente, explosive ordnance technician with Special Purpose Marine Air Ground Task Force South, and a native of Detroit, Mich., trains with an MK 2 MTRS (Talon) robot aboard the future amphibious assault ship USS America (LHA 6), July 23, 2014. The Talon allows for explosive ordnance technicians to inspect or disarm improvised explosive devices from a remote and safe location. Pente is part of a six-man EOD team with SPMAGTF-South tasked with participating in exchanges of military knowledge and tactics ashore with partner-nations in support of America’s maiden transit, “America Visits the Americas.” The ship is scheduled to be commissioned Oct. 11 in San Francisco.
