Lieutenant Col. George Hasseltine, the Special Purpose Marine Air Ground Task Force South commanding officer, and a native of Metairie, La., Uruguayan Navy Adm. Daniel Núñez as distinguished visitors from Uruguay board the future amphibious assault ship USS America (LHA 6) to tour the ship, Aug. 13, 2014. During the tour, the visitors saw several static displays showcasing the humanitarian assistance and disaster relief capabilities SPMAGTF-South brings to the ship. SPMAGTF-South is embarked aboard America on her maiden transit dubbed, “America Visits the Americas.” The transit aims to demonstrate the capabilities the Navy-Marine Corps team brings to our nation and partners.
