Retired Command Sergeant Major Marty Wells, renders honors after the memorial wreath is presented during the 9/11 First Responders Remembrance Memorial at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center Sept. 11. The First Responders Remembrance Memorial was built in 2011, integrating two 9/11 historic World Trade Center steel beams from Tower one. It includes all South Carolina Midlands firefighters, law enforcement, emergency medical services and all branches of the military that have lost their lives in the line of duty since Sept. 11.
