Naval Submarine Base New London Commanding Officer Capt. Mark S. Ginda begins the demolition of Building 442 as he takes the controls of an EC460BLC excavator. The demolition of this building as well as others is part of the Navy's Shore Vision 2035, in which the Navy will reduce base infrastructure by reusing land in which unneeded buildings are now on. This will restructure naval bases to meet the ever-changing needs of the Navy, reduce costs and decrease the Navy's infrastructure footprint.
