To prepare fighters of the future to support the Navy's Maritime Strategy, a new 9D6 Modular Egress Training System will train hundreds of aircrew every year at the Aviation Survival Training Center. Located at Naval Air Station Lemoore, aircrew first used the new 9D6 dunker during the inaugural class in July. Aircrew Survival Equipmentman 2nd Class Curtis Barnhart (inside dunker) and Navy Diver 2nd Class Benjamin Eisenbarth do a pre-operational check on the 9D6 Modular Egress Training System.
