Electronics Technician Senior Chief Petty Officer Kevin Miller accepts a plaque as the 2009 George Sirian Meritorious Service Awardee Aug. 21, 2009. Every year, the Surface Navy Assocation, USS Constitution Chapter, awards the GSA to a chief petty office in the Navy who exemplifies Surface Warfare excellence. The award honors George Sirian, a 19th century Old Ironsides crewmember who rose through the ranks from a seaman all the way to a warrant officer in a career that spanned nearly 50 years. Miller accepted the plaque and an engraved cutlass at USS Constitution’s home pier on the final day of Old Ironsides’ 2009 Chief Petty Officer Heritage Week One.
