Members of the Color Guard under the leadership of Command Sgt. Maj. Jorge Vasquez of the New York Army National Guard's 1st Battalion, 69th Infantry present colors during the playing of the Irish and U.S. national anthems following mass at St. Patrick's Cathedral, March 17, in New York City during the city's Saint Patrick's Day celebration. The New York National Guard unit has led the citywide parade for 158 years, since the unit first formed from the large Irish immigrant population in lower Manhattan.
