Aviation Ordnanceman 2nd Class Michael Cullinan, a native of San Diego, inspects the laser guidance system on a GBU-54 bomb in the weapons staging area of the amphibious assault ship USS Makin Island (LHD 8) prior to loading. Makin Island is the flagship of the Makin Island Amphibious Ready Group and, with the embarked 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit, is deployed in support of maritime and theater security operations in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of responsibility.
